Audie Mae Gibson went to heaven surrounded by her family on December 29, 2011.  Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street with Rev. Louis Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of North’s Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends, Monday, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at North’s Funeral Home.

 

Audie was born, May 10, 1920 in Sweetwater, Texas to Robert Luther Ragan and Alvenia Barnes. She graduated from Sweetwater High school in 1938.  She married Calvin Gibson (Paymaster) on September 9, 1939 in Sweetwater, Texas.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin, sons; Robert Don Gibson, Calvin “Red’ Gibson, Billy Dean Gibson and daughter, Judy Ellen Gibson.

 

She is survived by her children, Shirley Case and husband Phillip, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Larry Dale Gibson of Abilene, Wilma Ervin and husband, Bob of Abilene, David Gibson and wife, Cathy of Abilene, Patricia Zara and husband, Gene of Clyde, Ronnie Gibson of Abilene, Donnie Gibson of Abilene, sister, Mable Dunlap of Midland, Twenty-one Grandchildren, Forty-five great-grandchildren, Four Great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and family friend Mitch Smith.

 

She worked at T.S. Lankfords for twenty-five years, and retired from the Abilene State School after twenty years. She was a long time member of North Park Baptist Church.

 

Audie was also loved by many others.  She never met a stranger. She was known to everyone as “Grandma”.  Her heart was filled with love for everyone that surrounded her.
