Pearl Smedley Brown, 75, passed away January 22, 2012. A Graveside service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Thursday , Ross Cemetery with Dr. Herb Wood officiating, under the direction of North’s Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at North’s Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street.Mrs. Brown was born April 19, 1936 in Rowden, Texas to Jessie O. and Margaret Smedley. She married Bryan Dale Brown, November 17, 1954 in Baird, Texas. They were married 26 years. She worked for the Abilene Independent School System from 1966- 1995. After her retirement, Pearl worked as a caregiver through Home Health Agencies.She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan Dale Brown, husband; Judy Crofford, sister; and Clarence Smedley, brother.Pearl is survived by son, Jerry Brown; daughter, Jane Hill both of Abilene, her grandchildren; Amanda Shelnutt and husband, Gary of Baird, Texas and Krista Brown of Ellenville, New York; great-grandchildren, Giaana Santigo and Avery Shelnutt.
