Allen John Irwin, Sr., age 80, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022. A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, February 17, 2022 at North's Funeral Home with Pastor Jami McCravey officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Allen was born on April 8th, 1941 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to Samuel and Hilda Irwin. He served his country proudly for 20 years in the US Air Force and was stationed in South east asia during the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Air Force, Allen worked as a Machinist/Drill press Operator for General Dynamics/Lockheed in Abilene. He was a member of the American Legion Parramore Post 57 in Abilene. Allen enjoyed fishing, shooting at the range and, in his later years, doing crossword puzzles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Herbert Irwin, Sr. and Hilda Klick Irwin; wife, Joan Arlene Johnson Irwin: brothers, Samuel Herbert Irwin, Jr., Robert C Irwin and James P. Irwin: sister, Bertha Irwin Flynn; grandsons, James Allen Keith, Timothy Joshua Bland and daughter in law, Michelle Irwin. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Joy Keith of Abilene, Gay Bland and husband Trey of Abilene, Allen John Irwin, Jr. of San Angelo and Scott Samuel Irwin, Sr. of Abilene; former daughter in law, Christina Reid of Abilene; grandchildren, Candace, Jen, Larisha, Joe, Jacob, Roy, Taylor and Scott, Jr.; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and many, many more of the Irwin Clan in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
