Obituary

Allen Lackey 77 of Abilene passed away peacefully at a local hospital on Wednesday May 18 2011 with his family and longtime friend John Holton by his side. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street.  A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Tuscola Cemetery with Pastor Mike Hill officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Allen was born October 1 1933 in Tuscola to James and Margaret Lackey. He married Peggy Tyler on June 30 1962 in Abilene. After serving in the US Army he went to work for TXDOT and retired after 30 years. He could then be found "at the office" Jack –n- Jill Donuts on South 14th. He was saved as a child at what is now known as the Honey Bee Church. He was baptized in the tank west of Buffalo Gap.  He owned and loved antique cars and was in the Model A Club of Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby brother James. He is survived by his wife Peggy; son Lyndell Lackey and wife Pam of Abilene; daughter Vanessa Fry and husband Michael of Abilene; four grandsons: Patrick Fry Timothy Lackey Levi Lackey and Chayton Lackey; one great-grandson Timothy Lackey Jr.;  a twin sister Allene Faulkner of Midland; and several nieces and nephews.
