Allen J. McDaniel Jr. went to be with the Lord on November 6 2012. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Dr. Dwayne Hale will officiate. Allen was a descendant of an Abilene Pioneer family Sallie A. Clack Parker and Robert H. Parker who arrived in Abilene in 1883. He was born September 18 1928 in Santa Anna Texas to Hazel Eleanor Tinsdale and Allen Julian McDaniel Sr.   He graduated from Mason High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign War. Allen attended Abilene Christian University and received his degree from Hardin-Simmons University. He also received a Master's Degree from Hardin-Simmons University and attended Texas Tech University. He worked in the Abilene Christian University Library for many years. His two loves were scouting in which he served in many capacities and the Abilene Rock Club. Allen was preceded in death by his parents his brother Hal and his sister Hazel Jean. He is survived by his many and loyal friends and cousins. Memorials may be made to the University Church of Christ or the Boy Scouts of America.
