Ancil Don Worthan "A.D." of Abilene Texas was born to Earl Darwin and Hazel Rene Worthan on December 7 1931 in Abernathy Texas and was called home by his Lord and Savior on Friday February 4 2011. Pastor Scott Beard of Fountain Gate Fellowship will officiate a Celebration of Life service at the chapel of North's Funeral Home located at 242 Orange Street Abilene Texas on Thursday February 10 2011 beginning at 12:30 with his final interment at the Texas V.A. Cemetery Abilene Texas . The family will receive visitors on Tuesday February 8 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
A.D. proudly served his country with 24 years in the military 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Rowan DD782 and then 20 years as a U.S. Navy Seabee serving 4 tours in Vietnam in the naval construction battalions NMCB4 and NMCB11. He retired from the military in 1982 in Kingsville Texas .
Waiting to greet A.D. in heaven were his parents Earl & Hazel Worthan twin daughters Kathy Jean and Katy Rene Worthan brother Weldon Worthan sister Iva Hill and grandson Daniel Noble.
He leaves behind to remember his many adventures life long accomplishments and the love he had for his family his wife of 56 years Annette "Ann" Worthan his children Terry (Ned) Bunting Larry (Cindy) Worthan Stacy (Lisa) Worthan eight grandchildren Christopher Sholar Michael Noble Amy Bunting Jeremy Bunting and Rebekah Bunting Candice Worthan Tiffany (Ryan) Hayes and Aaron Worthan one great grandson Blayne Bunting brother Larry Dale (Elizabeth) Worthan and sister April Earlene (Kenneth) Boothe and many nieces and nephews.
A day will not pass that you will not be missed and we will forever treasure the years and memories we have had you with us…as husband father grandfather and friend but we hold fast to the promise that…To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
