Antonio Soto Sr., 88, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at North's Funeral Home.
Born on January 17, 1937, in Nixon, Texas, to Julian and Maria Soto, Antonio was a man whose hands were always busy and whose heart was always full. He grew up in the heart of South Texas, eventually settling in Wingate, where he spent most of his life working hard, raising a family, and leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength.
A jack of all trades, Antonio could fix anything with patience, skill, and determination. Whether he was under the hood of a car or working with his hands on a new project, there was little he couldn't do when he set his mind to it. He was a gifted mechanic, a natural problem-solver, and the one everyone turned to when something needed doing - and doing right.
But beyond his talents, it was Antonio's heart that made him unforgettable. He was a devoted husband to Estefana Soto, his beloved wife of 52 years, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love. He was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and his family was the light of his life. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by those he loved - sharing a meal (especially if it included his favorite: ham), strumming his guitar, singing old songs, or simply sitting outside with a fishing pole in hand.
Antonio had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He lived with humility, worked with purpose, and loved without limits. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the stories we share, the music we hear, and the love he gave so freely.
Antonio was preceded in death by his parents; Julian and Maria Soto, wife; Estefana Cardenas Soto, brothers; Ramon Soto, Beto Soto, daughters; Herlinda Ramirez and Juanita DeLaCruz.
Antonio Soto Sr. is survived by his three sons; Santiago and Lydia Soto, Steven and Rosa Soto, Antonio Jr. and Tiffney Soto, his sister; Gloria Esparza, 24 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
