Aôma Lusenda, age 59, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, in Abilene. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 9:45 a.m. at Holy Cross Anglican Church, located at 3232 S. Willis St., with Pastor Bryan Stewart officiating.
Aôma was born on January 1, 1966, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. While living in Congo, he worked as a skilled mechanic. In 1996, Aôma and his family fled the war and resettled in Tanzania, where he became a licensed evangelist. He was deeply committed to his faith, actively serving in the church and playing a key role in the construction of the local parish. During his time in Tanzania, he was a devoted member of Bethel Anglican Church.
In 2023, Aôma moved with his family to the United States, settling in Abilene, Texas.
Aôma is survived by his beloved wife, Bitondo Mazambi of Abilene; and his children: Giselle Yangya of Tanzania, Salome Mulonda of Abilene, TX, Mwalibola Zawadi of Ohio, Imani Prudence of Abilene, Maitrise Lusenda of Abilene, Sifa Aôma of Abilene, Ishara Mumbikile of Abilene, Dorcas Maombi of Abilene, and Na'mmana Lusenda of Abilene.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Aôma will be remembered for his faith, his resilience, and his unwavering commitment to his family and church. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched both in Africa and here in the United States.
