Archie McMath, 70, passed away peacefully in his home in Abilene, Texas, on October 27, 2024, with his devoted wife Anne by his side. Born on May 26th, 1954, in Roswell, New Mexico; Archie was the son of Robert and Peggy McMath, and was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Robert and Vicie McMath. He attended Portales High School in New Mexico, where he excelled and found his passion for football as a running back. Archie also dedicated many years to umpiring various sports. Archie married Anne on July 13th, 2002, at the American Legion in Alvarado, Texas, and they shared 24 wonderful years together. He was a proud member of both, The Sons of the American Legion, and the Riders organizations.
Archie is survived by his loving wife, Anne McMath; his sons Ryan and wife Nicole McMath, Eric McMath, and Scott McMath; stepson Bobby Wood; daughter-in-law Lorina; and his sister Donna. He was a proud grandfather to Brennen, Kolten, Jaxon, Malley, Austin, Madison, Garrett, Trey, Brianna, Kristina, Lathan, and Chaseton, and a great-grandfather to Paxton. He also leaves behind nieces Ashley and Chelsea, along with many more family members and friends. Archie was preceded in death by his father, Robert, his mother, Peggy; his grandparents, Robert, and Vicie; his brother, Luther; and his sister, Judy.
Archie deeply cherished his family, always making sure to express his love and appreciation, whether with a warm hug, or a heartfelt text. He lived his life to the fullest and departed this world leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth. As we grieve his loss, we find solace in knowing he is now free from pain and suffering.
Fulfilling his final wishes, a part of Archie's ashes will be lovingly spread during his last ride on a motorcycle, a tribute to the journeys he cherished. A celebration of life will soon be announced, inviting all loved ones and friends to join us in honoring the cherished memory of our beloved Archie.
