Aspen Rayne Newman, born May 29, 2002, in Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away Thurday September 4, 2025 at the age of 23. Aspen grew up in Rapid City, SD, where she attended school and graduated from Central High School in 2020. A gifted student, she excelled in all subjects-especially math and computers. After High School she obtained a certificate to become a Software Developer. Her love for technology followed her throughout life, and was known for her intelligence, curiosity, and passion for anything involving computers. Aspen moved to Abilene, Texas, in 2020, later relocating to Golden, Colorado in 2021, and most recently returning to Abilene. No matter where life took her, Aspen carried a strong work ethic, she strived to be the best at everything she did. Those who knew Aspen will remember her contagious laugh, tender heart, competitive spirit, and the beauty she carried inside and out. A loyal friend and beloved family member, her presence brought joy and comfort to those around her. Aspen is survived by her mother, Vanessa Red Bird of Abilene, TX; father, Jordan Newman of Rapid City, SD; sisters Jasmine Red Bird, Sacressa Marshall, and Alina Newman, all of Rapid City; brothers Jordan Jr. and Kane Newman, of Rapid City, SD and Conner Vodicka, of Vancouver, WA. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother Corinne Red Bird of Abilene; paternal grandparents Raylene Stonum and Mike Stonum of Rapid City; nephews Vayden Vodicka, Vaughn Vodicka, and Baby A.J. Little Thunder; niece Vayla Vodicka; and uncles Cedric Leclaire, Dakota Stonum and Torrian Webb; and aunt Tara Long. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Harold Red Bird, uncle Sebastien Bernamont, and uncle Dallas Quick Bear. Services are currently pending Aspen will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew and loved her.
