Audra M. Sheppard, 94, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024. A Graveside Service will be held Monday June 3, 2024 at 2:00pm at Tye Cemetery. Audra Merle Sheppard was born in Jones county Texas on August 26, 1929 to Eric and Gracie Barnes. She had three children from first marriage, Bobby Ray Young of Tye, Linda Carol Leach of Abilene and Billie Joyce Roys of Tye. One sister Wanda Bullard of Abilene. Audra married Aaron James (Jim) Sheppard in 1972, she has one surviving step daughter Jayne Ann Sutton of Abilene. Audra loved her dogs, over the years she took in many dogs that needed a home. Her goal in life was to prove her father's heritage of being a descendent of the Mayflower. It took over 20 years of research but she acceded her goal. Her 10th great grandfather was Gov. William Bradford. Audra has 8 grand children 20 great grandchildren and 8 great great grand children and a number of step grand and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Aaron James Sheppard, parents and one brother and three step children. In lieu of flowers donations to Love and Care ministry, Belmont Baptist Church and Hendricks Hospice Care would be appreciated.
