Barbara Yvonne Fraser 80 left this life on earth to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday February 23 2011.  She died at home peacefully in her sleep. She had her daughter and all of her grandchildren at her side the night before and all were blessed with the opportunity to say their goodbyes. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Midway Cemetery with Larry Millican Hospice Chaplain officiating. Barbara was born July 21 1930 in Baird Texas to Gene and Leo Brewer. She married Meril Weldon Fraser in December of 1952. Barbara had one daughter Karron and she and Meril had one son Ty. She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife mother grandmother great-grandmother great-great-grandmother sister and friend. All who knew her loved her. Until her health began to fail she loved to knit for all of her family. But reading and spending time with her grandchildren were her most treasured pastimes. Friends of the grandchildren called her "the candy grandma" because she always made sure there was an abundance of candy for the children and their friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Finis Eugene "Gene" Brewer; mother Leo Henrietta White Brewer; step-mother Azale McLarry Brewer; sister Gwendolyn Fincher; and her beloved son Ty Weldon Fraser. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Meril Weldon Fraser; daughter and son-in-law Karron and Don Johnson; grandchildren Kendra Gregory Tiffany Watts and husband Rusty; great-grandchildren Garrett Watts and fiancé Lane Minze Kaylie Watts Dillon Watts Tanner Watts Hunter Gregory Kelsey Gregory and Lexi Gregory. Barbara was also blessed with an extended family of great-grandchildren Tana and husband Robert Allmand and great-great-grandchildren Jordan Colton Brennan Allmand and Ace Minze; brother Bill Brewer and wife Ruby; sisters Bette Pitcock Frances Barton and husband Ralph of El Paso and Norma Murphy of California; aunt and uncle Melba and J.D. Atkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hendrick Hospice 1682 Hickory Street Abilene Texas 79601. The family would also like to take this time to thank the hospice staff for all their wonderful care and compassion shown to our wife mother and grandmother for the  past 19 months. It would have been impossible for her to have stayed in her home and been cared for in the way she was without you. We will always be grateful.
