Barbara Ann Huckaby Garner, 90, passed away Monday September 23, 2024 in Abilene, TX surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be held Saturday September 28, 2024 at 1pm at Elmwood Memorial Park, under the direction of North's Funeral Home.
Barbara was born to Clem and Faye (Robertson) Huckaby on November 29, 1933 in Rotan, TX. She graduated from Rotan High School in 1950. Barbara and John Luther Garner were married on June 7, 1952 in Abilene, TX, where they made their home for many years.
Barbara retired from Southwestern Bell / AT&T with more than 30 years of service and was a member of the Pioneers. She was a talented seamstress, sewing for herself, her daughters, other family members and friends throughout the years. She was also a member of Portland Free Methodist Church for many years.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, daughter Rebecca Beck, mother Faye Woolsey and stepfather Ross Woolsey, father Clem Huckaby and stepmother Easter Huckaby, sisters Shirley Miller and Sandra Cobb and brother Billy Jack Huckaby. Survivors include her children Starla Jordan and husband Jerry of College Station, Britt Garner and wife Betty of Abilene, Brad Garner of Abilene, son-in-law Steve Beck of Nacogdoches, brothers James Huckaby, Jerry Huckaby and Ricky Huckaby, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
