Obituary

Barbara Ann Tabor Templeton Rowntree 88, of Abilene, formerly of Albany, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017. Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in the First Baptist Church of Albany with Pastor Bob Knowles officiating. Interment will follow in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. on the day of service in the First Baptist Church. Ms. Rowntree was born July 13, 1928, in Albany, Texas to C.S. and Bessie (Thompkins) Tabor. She received her L.V.N. degree at Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas. She married Walter Templeton in 1948 and after his demise she married Robert Rowntree, II in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Albany and past Matron of Albany Eastern Star #733. She taught Sunday School for over 20 years and was a past President of the Albany Blue Bonnet Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, First husband, Walter Templeton in 1971 and her second husband, Robert Rowntree, II in 1989. Two brothers, Clifton Tabor and Roy Tabor, one daughter, Deidra Simmons, two sons-in-laws, Glinn Best and Donnie Windland. She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Best, Sarah Windland and Susan Teague and husband Harold. Grandchildren, Walter Best and wife Rosa, Lori Best, D.J. Windland and wife Aly, Mickey Simmons, Melissa Ortiz and husband Chris, Michele Simmons, Tiffany Wells and husband Brad and Tony Teague. Great-grandchildren, Juan Chavez and wife Rita, Leo Chavez and wife Casey, Maddy, Morgan and Bailey Windland, Sam Windland, Jayden Lanie, Anthian and Rylan Ortiz, Dylan Teague, Dusty and Dawson Oden, Shyler, Ema and Layken Teague.
