Betty Nell Ewing 75 of Abilene Texas passed away on Sunday December 9 2012.
She was born November 5 1937 in Sherman Texas to Benjamin and Gracie Freeman. Having lived in Anson and Itasca she moved to Abilene at 13 where she spent the remainder of her life. She married the love of her life Riley Ewing on February 9 1952. Togetherthey shared the adventure of raising three children. As a family they enjoyed the simple things in life; camping watching thunderstorms going to the local DQ making homemade ice cream and just doing the things a family does. Considered a world class cook by her family and friends she was well known for her peach cobbler and ice box pies. She could make a meal out of anything and rivaled well known chefs in her creativity. During her lifetime she worked at various places such as the Timex Watch Factory WTU Nick Crain's Drug and as a stay at home mom. At the time of her death she was a member of Bible Chapel church and much loved by her church family.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Riley Ewing; her children Laurie Walker and husband David Gerald Ewing and wife April Karen Massey and husband Brian; 10 grandchildren and her brother Billy Freeman and wife Jean. She is predeceased by her parents and two sisters Alice and Opal.
Services will be Thursday December 13 2012 10:00 a.m. at Bible Chapel 2549 N. Danville Abilene Texas. W.L. Massey and Tommy Jones will officiate. Pallbearers are Eric Brann Charlie Wolfe Bill Cox Steve Beatty Danny Snow and Zee White. Honorary pallbearer is Clarence Sneed. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Memorial Park Garden of Faith.
Visitation will be held at North's Funeral Home Wednesday December 12 2012 5-7 p.m.
