Obituary

Billye Charlene Wilson, 91, died August 12, in Abilene. A graveside memorial service will be held at 4 pm Sunday, Oct. 8, at Sweetwater City Cemetery. Born October 2, 1931, in Sweetwater to Charlie and Margaret Neatherlin, she married Ollie Henry Wilson Aug. 27, 1947, in Sweetwater and lived most of her life in Abilene. She was a longtime member of the Southside Church of God, where she played the piano. She loved singing and playing the piano and had learned to play "by ear," having never taken lessons. She enjoyed playing dominoes and had started a group that regularly played at the nursing home where she had lived the past three years. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Clayton Chemical before retiring in 1977. Henry, her husband of 65 years, preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gwin Neatherlin and Charlie Wayne Neatherlin, and a sister, Dovie Finley. She is survived by her daughter, Doneva Wilson Garcia of California, her son Brad Wilson and daughter-in-law Trish Wilson of Abilene; seven grandchildren, the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Garcia Bashaw and Jacob Garcia, both of North Carolina, Jonathan Garcia and Maggie Garcia Rodarte, both of California, and Tresleigh Petre, Marc Petre and Hollis Stephens, all of Abilene; seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Ann Vause, of Sweetwater, and one brother, Tommy Neatherlin, of Abilene.
