Brady R. "Pat" Patterson 93 of Abilene died peacefully on July 11 2012 at Hospice in Hendrick Medical Center . A funeral service will be held Saturday July 14 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange Street with B. J. McMichael officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Brady was born on November 11 1918 to Pearlie and Brady Patterson in a log cabin in Macan County Tennessee . November 11 1918 was the end of the terrible World War I and peace came for awhile. When Brady was 3 years old his parents bundled him up in blankets and headed for Texas . They landed near Lubbock where Brady found himself in a big wide open area with no log cabin where his dad was farming with big horses. Brady grew up to be what he thought was a big boy with a wonderful big sister and riding to school in a large school bus. He remembers thinking he had it made. About four years later along came a little brother who was a joy. The family moved to Portales New Mexico in 1936 and six years later in 1942 Brady was drafted. After serving his Army time Brady was homesick and moved back to Portales New Mexico where he worked for Price Dairy he went to college under the G.I. bill. On Christmas Eve in 1946 he married Marjorie Reeder and they honeymooned in Amarillo . They moved shortly after to Sacramento California where Brady quickly got a job with Borden's Dairy Products because of his experience back in Portales at Price's Dairy. He worked at Borden's for 13 years until they moved to Colorado Springs Colorado because of Marjorie's health. There he worked at Carnation Dairy for 6 years until Marjorie's health improved. They then moved back to Los Angeles California where he worked for Carnation until he retired in 1980. They moved to Abilene Texas in 1982 where he spent the next 21 happy years until he lost his beloved Marjorie in 2003. Brady was preceded in death by his parents his wife a brother Payton and a sister-in-law Letha May McElfresh. He is survived by 2 nephews Doug Patterson and wife Shay of Dewey Arizona and Stan Patterson and wife Shirley of Phoenix Arizona; Three nieces Frances and Jim Whitehead of Yakima Washington Edith and Larry Whitehead of Palouse Washington and Rose McFarland of Toledo Washington. He also leaves 2 cousins Lewis Duncan and wife Jane of Abilene Texas and Jean Matheny and husband Joe of White Oak; special friends Clara Bradshaw now living in Sterling Alaska Denise Barnett and Katie Emerson of Abilene.
