Carlos "Goose" V. Tatum 75 of Abilene passed away Sunday October 2 2011.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m.  Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating.  Arrangements made by North's Funeral Home 242 Orange St . Mr. Tatum was born December 5 1935 in Durant Oklahoma to Cecil and Belvie Tatum. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force retiring as CMSgt.  He was also retired from the Abilene State Supported Living Center where worked for twenty-five years.   He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church for many years. During his long Air Force career he served as a passenger and cargo terminal supervisor. However his primary duty for many years was a  Flight Attendant aboard aircraft assigned to the Washington DC area supporting airlift of Military Commanders   Congressional Leaders  including Air Force One during President Lyndon Johnson's Presidency.  During his last assignment at Dyess AFB he was a supervisor in the 1st Mobile Air Port Squadron and was later selected to serve as the Command Chief for the 463 TAW until his retirement. After Air Force  retirement he attended Snyder Jr. College with studies in grounds maintenance. He loved playing golf and laughing with friends. He was a person that would bring people together for common goals. He ran the race; a respected man. His friends affectionately called him ""Goose Tatum"". He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Mardell Tatum. He is survived by his daughter; Carla Rochin and son; Marty Tatum. Five grandchildren and his very special companion Suki Johnson.
