Carol Ann Starling, age 83, passed away on June 10, 2026, in Abilene, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, 1:30pm-4:30pm, at the home of William & Nancy Starling at 261 Pilgrim Road, Abilene, TX. Carol was born January 30, 1943, in Malden, Massachusetts, to Harry Edwin Rae and Catherine Edna Rae. Carol married a Navy Sailor Jack Walter Starling June 25, 1960, in Middlesex City, Malden, Massachusetts. Per the words of her late husband, Jack, "Carol grew up to bring so much joy, happiness and heartaches to her parents. She was a spoiled girl, the twinkle in both her mother's and father's eyes. There wasn't anything they wouldn't give to her or buy for her. All she had to do was ask and it was hers." Carol's life was full of many loves that kept her busy. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, pottery painting, arts and crafts, sewing, wine making, canning and antiquing. Her greatest love was traveling, traveling the world for pleasure and also as a military spouse within the US and Cuba. As a child she enjoyed summers in Nova Scotia, Canada, where her parents were original from before moving to Massachusetts. She enjoyed eating fish and chips and you better have the malt vinegar to go with it. She was a homemaker and spent a few years selling real estate. Carol is preceded in death by her husband Jack Walter Starling, her mother Catherine Rae and father, Harry Rae, and her siblings, Grace Maxine Tibiatowski, Robert James Rae, and Ellen (Betty) Elizabeth Ferguson. Carol is survived by her two sons William Harry Starling (spouse Nancy), Kenneth Preston Starling (spouse Jane Dawalga), four grandchildren Alissa Starling (spouse Fredrick Carolan), Kristan Starling, Cawley Starling (spouse Julie), and Austin Starling, and six great grandchildren Julian Yarbrough, Anthony Gomez, Malina Gomez, Adrian Carolan, Harper Martin and Sloane Starling.
