Carolyn Young, age 83, passed away in Abilene, Texas on 8/20/2026 at home.
A servant of the Lord, a devoted wife and mother, and a treasured grandmother and friend.
Carolyn's life was a beautiful reflection of God's grace, and her love will remain forever rooted in our hearts.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 29, 1942, to Elizabeth and Clarence Chapman.
Carolyn met James Ruffner Wilson and married in 1961 with their union producing 3 children. Being that James was in the Air Force they lived in various places in and out of the country before settling in Abilene Texas divorcing in 1981.
She later met and married Wayford Coy Young in 1988 and gained 2 stepchildren.
Carolyn loved working and held various jobs as an accountant and financial secretary. Her greatest job of all was serving the Lord. She was an active member of King Solomon Baptist Church of Abilene, Texas, where she was and Usher and Financial secretary and devoted a lot of her time and energy there. She also served with the Abilene City-Wide Ushers. In her earlier days she loved playing Bingo, and when she took the time to relax at home you find her watching game shows, mystery movies or Columbo.
Carolyn was proceeded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Clarence Chapman, her husband Wayford Young, and daughter Christel Frisco. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Wilson (Louis Lowery) of Austin Texas, Clifton "CJ" Wilson (Yvonia Paige-Wilson) of Abilene Texas, Tracy Young (stepdaughter) of Abilene Texas and Shawn Young (stepson) of Odessa Texas and her special friend Exia Walker of Abilene, Texas with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family of Carolyn Young wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered support, calls, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time. Your kindness, comforting words, and presence have provided great strength to our family. We are deeply moved by the love shown to Carolyn and will forever cherish your sympathy and thoughtfulness.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at King Solomon Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
