Celestino Morales Ramirez better known as "C.M. Ramirez" went to be with the Lord on November 24 2012. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home. A rosary prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Wake service at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Bhaskar Morugudi officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene directed by North's Funeral Home. Mr. Ramirez was born on February 1 1932 in Burkett TX to Luis and Rosa Ramirez. He spent most of his childhood in Coleman TX. In March of 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served our country in the Korean War where he joined the 78 th AAA Gun Battalion. While enlisted he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal for Korea. His service in the Korean War shaped his life from that point forward. Shortly after returning from Korea he met the love of his life Pauline DeLeon Ramirez of Stamford Texas. They were married in 1956. Upon having children and returning to Abilene he was employed by the United States Postal Service. He took great pride in his work and made many friends while working in the maintenance department at the Abilene Post Office. He retired in 1992 after devoting more than 20 years. Mr. Ramirez cherished and was an active member of the following organizations: Texas Postal Workers Union AFL-CIO where he served as the local chapter representative Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Korean War Veterans Association. Survivors include his daughter Dora Ramirez; a son Richard Ramirez both of Abilene three brothers Francisco Ramirez of Brawley California Raymundo Ramirez of Santa Fe New Mexico; Johnny Rodriguez of Abilene; two sisters Elena Davila of Dallas and Rosa Sanchez of Abilene; five grand-children Camilla Ferguson and husband Jon of Mesquite Melanie Lopez and husband Daniel who are currently stationed in Italy Erica Ramirez Jones of Dallas Kelly Ramirez and Ryan Ramirez both of Abilene; four great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews who adored him. Mr. Ramirez was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and a brother Amado Ramirez.
