Chad W. Murray, 55, of Merkel, Texas, passed away on October 24, 2025, in Abilene. He was born on March 4, 1970, in Dallas, Texas, to Kerry Murray and Janine Despain. Chad grew up in Hill County and graduated from Bynum High School in the late 1980s. Following his passion for service, he attended the Fire Academy and graduated in 1992. Chad went on to serve his community faithfully as a fireman and paramedic in Hill County for close to 20 years. Outside of his career, Chad found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and working on cars. He mastered the BBQ pit and could smoke any meat to perfection. He also cherished his time spent with family and friends and enjoyed attending church. Most recently, he was a member of Beltway Church in Abilene, where his faith remained an important part of his life. Chad is survived by his children, Summer Taylor (Chris) of Ruidoso, NM; Siera Pape (Trey) of Merkel, TX; Chase Murray of Hillsboro, TX; Cassadie Murray of Hillsboro, TX; and Keighan Crist of Burleson, TX; his mother, Janine Fain (Glen) of Weatherford, TX; his father, Kerry Murray (Marilyn) of Green Cove Springs, FL; and his brothers and sisters. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Willow, River, and Jireh Taylor, and Hudson and Blakely Pape. He was preceded in death by his son, Sean Murray. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home in Abilene, Texas, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Chad will be remembered for his servant's heart, his love for cooking, and his devotion to his family and faith. His warmth and dedication touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed.
