Charles Raymond Bills 84 of Abilene died Monday June 30 2008. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in North's Memorial Chapel with Ernie Christie and Chris McCurley officiating. Burial to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Charles was born February 20 1924 at Reno Texas near Paris to Louie William and Lorena Reid Bills. His family farmed near Paris then moved in 1936 to Whiteface Texas. Charles was valedictorian of his 1942 Whiteface High School class. In 1950 he married Betty Jo Barnett of Spur Texas; she passed away in 1966. In 1969 he married Juanita Beeson of Waco. Prior to his retirement Charles was employed in the lumber and hardware business. He was a member of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene. Preceding Charles in death were his parents three brothers a sister and his first wife. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Juanita his son David Bills of Lubbock his daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Stephen Rubenfeld of Duluth Minnesota two granddaughters Brena Rubenfeld of St. Paul Minnesota and Becca Rubenfeld of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania one brother Ernest Bills of Tulsa Oklahoma and several nephews nieces and cousins. The family wishes to thank the staff of Wesley Court and Sears Methodist Hospice for their compassionate care and many kindnesses.
