Obituary

Charles Anderson Brady, 78, passed away peacefully in his home in Abilene, Texas on April 17, 2025. Charlie, as people knew him, was born in Ontario, Oregon to Harriet and Cecil R. Brady on March 12, 1947. Graveside service will be held Tuesday April 22, 2025 at 2pm at Boys Ranch Cemetery in Boys Ranch TX. On July 12, 1953, at the age of six, he went to live at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. He went to school in the Old Tascosa, one room schoolhouse through second grade and graduated from Boys Ranch High School in 1964. He worked several jobs in Amarillo after high school before coming "home" to Boys Ranch in 1974 to work in the maintenance department where he met his wife, Linda. They were married on February 9, 1979. Charlie and Linda lived and raised their two daughters Jennifer and Carrie in Channing. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served as the Sunday School Director and usher until his retirement from Boys Ranch in 2009. Since retirement, Charlie has enjoyed his free time reading his daily paper and Louis L'Amour novels, watching westerns and mysteries, and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He will be remembered as someone who loved Jesus, who treated others with kindness and dignity, who took pride in the work he did, and loved his family. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Brady and Harriett Brady; his brothers Cecil, Doug, and Arnold Brady; his sisters Carolyn Queen and Darlene Cotner; and his granddaughter Catherine Grace Best. He is survived by his wife Linda Brady of Abilene; his daughter Jennifer and husband Billy Best of Loveland, CO; his daughter Carrie and husband Justin Allen of Abilene, TX; his sister Dee Brady of Vancouver, WA; his sister Sherri and husband Rueben Berlanga of San Antonio, TX; his brother Randy Brady of Amarillo, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren Brady, Hannah, and James Best, Mason and Molly Allen.
