Charles T. Hopper "Charlie" has left his recent world of pain and is now in the Choir praising his Lord and Savior.  Charlie wished to be cremated. His cremains and service will be at the State Veterans Cemetery Pavillion on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Jim DeFoor officiating.  Visitation will be at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street on Sunday June 12 2011 from 6-7:30 p.m..   Charlie was born July 31 1948 in Wyandotte Michigan to Harry Daniel and Evelyn Jean Hopper.  Charlie was a Vietnam Veteran.  He earned his Purple Heart in the TET Offensive of 1968 and has carried the effects of his time in Vietnam.  The ravages of Agent Orange caused a series of different cancers which resulted in great pain that he has suffered quietly thru the last few years.   Charlie worked for eighteen years for the United States Postal Service and for eight years at Lowe's Home Improvement Center.  He was a gifted carpenter and was always willing to help other people.  He loved playing golf with his brothers and friends.   Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Jean Hopper sister Kathryn Rossiter and stepson Brian Smith.   He is survived by his loving wife Sonya Kay: two daughters Danielle McKee (Virgil) of McCamey Texas and Darcey Hopper of Irving Texas and a stepson Nathan Smith (Deb) of Abilene.  He is also survived by a sister Nancy Aston (Shawn) of Kincheloe Michigan and three brothers Dan (Sharon) Robert (Teresa) and Randy (Angie) all of Abilene.  He also leaves two grandsons Coltin McKee and Brian Hosch both of McCamey.  Three uncles also survive Allen Branch (Dorothy) of Wyandotte Michigan  Bill Lau and Bob Lau of Perrysburg Ohio.  He leaves a very large family of many nieces nephews cousins and friends.   The family wishes to express their gratitude to Jim DeFoor our VA rep in Abilene his doctors nurses and hospice staff.   Online condolences can be made at www.northsfuneralhome.com.
