On Friday, December 4, 2015, we lost a dear father, grandfather, great grandfather, companion, and friend when C. J. Douglas passed away at the age of 86. Family and friends are invited to the visitation to be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 5 – 7 p.m. in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 2pm in North's Memorial Chapel with Keith Clifton officiating. C.J. will be laid to rest in Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene, Texas.
C.J. was born in Jones County and grew up in Merkel, TX. After high school, C.J. spent two years in the Army Corp of Engineers. Upon his discharge, he worked as an accountant at D&W Furniture before starting his own successful business.
C.J. was preceded in death by his wife Mary Douglas, and son Dale Douglas; parents, Joe and Nora Douglas; sister, Wanda Tipton and brother, Gene Douglas.
Survivors who will remember him are his son, David and wife Patty, C.J.'s daughter, Dianne Douglas Anderson and husband Victor Anderson III, granddaughter, Jennifer Douglas Howitt and her husband Kenney Howitt, grandson, Kevin Charles Douglas and wife Jahna Meli Douglas, great grandchildren, Aedyn Rose Howitt and Cora Lynn Howitt, his companion, Barbara Lechler, and his many friends and associates.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to two of C.J.'s favorite charities, St. Jude's Cancer Research and the VFW.
