Chera Gail Antilley Hohhertz, age 79 of Abilene, Texas passed away September 1, 2021.
Chera was born October 14, 1941 in Abilene, Texas to Tom and Ollie Lillian Antilley. Chera enjoyed milking cows, fishing with her daddy and bossing her late brothers; Milton, Leonard, Dick, and Bobby around. She spent all of her years working but enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She graduated from Abilene High and married Harold Hohhertz on July 2 of 1960 after they met at the Buffalo Gap 4H camp, fell in love and were together 61 years.
Chera was a devoted "Wawa" to her family, friends, church, LWML, and community. She worked for many years at the Taylor County Expo Center, Abilene Ag, and lastly Reddy Ice. Chera was a life-long supporter of the FFA and the livestock association. Chera spent a majority of her time helping prepare for the West Texas Fair and Rodeo which was her pride and joy. She of course also enjoyed working alongside her beloved husband while operating the Hohhertz Dairy for 47 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, and her daughter Brenda.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband Harold Hohhertz, son Tim Hohhertz and wife Belinda of Abilene. Granddaughters Molly Andrews and husband Jr. of Austin, Matty and Karly Hohhertz of Abilene and Great-Granddaughter Mia Andrews of Austin, Texas. As well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Brenda Jowers for her love and care she showed Chera in her last year.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7pm at North's Funeral Home in Abilene. The Funeral service will be Monday September 6, 2021 at 1pm, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Abilene, Texas followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.
