Christel L. Wilson-Frisco 62, of Abilene, Texas, passed away Thursday April 23 in Abilene. She was born on October 13, 1963, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to James Ruffner Wilson and Carolyn Chapman-Young.
She began her schooling in Okinawa, Japan, and later moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she continued her education before settling in Abilene. She graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1981. Following high school, she worked various jobs in the Abilene area.
She will be remembered for her vibrant and social spirit. She enjoyed relaxing in the swimming pool, coloring, shopping, and spending time with friends. A true social butterfly, she brought joy and energy wherever she went. She especially loved visiting her mother and cherished her role as her mother's baby.
She is survived by her loving mother, Carolyn Young of Abilene; her father, James Wilson of Austin; her children, James Lowry Jr. (Amanda Penns) of Las Vegas, Nerissa Sands (Thomas Sands) of Louisiana, and Phillip James Wilson (Mae-quann Terrell) of Abilene; her siblings, Michelle Wilson of Austin (Louis Lowry) and Clifton James "CJ" Wilson (Yvonia Wilson) of Abilene; her longtime partner, Ellis Williams of Abilene; 11 grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Wayford Young.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at King Solomon Baptist Church, with burial to follow at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at North's Funeral Home.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
