Christina Elaine Castro, 33, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Christina was born October 25,1990 in Galveston, Texas to Deborah Geiogamah and Christopher Castro. Her adoptive parents are Joe M. Castro and Anita Castro. Christina attended Abilene High School, where she received her Certified Nursing Assistant certification and began her career within the Nursing field. After attending Abilene High School, Christina continued her education and received her Licensed Vocational Nurse certification then her Registered Nurse-Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University. She found great joy in her work in the nursing field for seventeen years. She was well known for her smile and friendly demeanor towards her patients. Christina loved spending time with her husband, children and family. On a given day, she could be found cooking in the kitchen or listening to one of her favorite songs. She attended family events regularly and was seen snapping photos of everyone. She found joy in traveling, whether it was a family reunion or to listen to a favorite music artist. She could also be found shopping for her family, often for matching outfits for special occasions and holidays. She will be remembered for her joyous spirit. Christina, along with her sister Joanna, are enrolled members of the Kiowa Indian Tribe of Oklahoma. Their late mother, Debbie, was a member of the Geiogamah family of the Kiowa Tribe, and as family members they are direct descendants of patriarch Henry Geiogamah, who was a principal spiritual leader of the tribe as one of the keepers of one of the tribe's medicine bundles. Christina and Joanna's maternal grandfather, the late Claude Geiogamah Sr., was lovingly proud that the sisters were enrolled tribal members and great granddaughters of his highly respected father. The Geiogamah family of Oklahoma proudly and respectfully include Christina's and Joanna's families as part of theirs. Christina is preceded in death by her mother, Deborah Geiogamah; grandmother, Lola Geiogamah; grandfather, Claude Geiogamah; aunts Carol Parker, Renee Geiogamah and Roberta Dyer; and adoptive father Joe M. Castro Sr. She is survived by her husband, Ruben Gonzalez; sons, Xavier Silvas and Ruben Gonzalez Jr.; daughter, Mariah Gonzalez; adoptive mother Anita Castro; father, Christopher Castro; sisters, Joanna Castro and Gina Napoo; brothers, Travis Tofpi, Christopher Lopez, Christopher Clark, Iryon Poafpybitty; nieces, Olivia, Deborah and Gina Tofpi, Alicia Cortez; nephews, Shane Guoladdle, Tito Tofpi, Hector Gloria Jr.; aunts, Lydia Rose (Johnny Rose), Martha Hernandez (Morris Hernandez), Claudette Narcomey (Clyde Narcomey), Robin Bledsoe (Neal Bledsoe), Lisa Diaz (Mario Diaz), Margie Geiogamah; uncles, Joe Castro Jr. (Esther Castro), Leonardo Castro (Mandy Castro), Art Castro, Hanay Geiogamah, Danny Geiogamah, Claude Geiogamah Jr.; mother-in-law, Yolanda Gonzalez and father-in-law, Jorge Gonzalez Sr. She will be deeply missed by her numerous cousins, family and friends. The pallbearers will be: Jimmy Rangel, John Rangel, Arthur Castro Jr., Michael Castro, Steven Rose and Kevin Castro. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at North's Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8 pm with a Rosary starting at 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held Monday April 22, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (837 Jeanette St, Abilene, Tx, 79602) at 10:00 am with Father Albert Ezeanya officiating. Burial to follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
