Col.George Robert Jackson Sr.USAF Retired of Abilene passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 in Abilene, TX. A Memorial Service will be held Friday January 7, 2022 at 1pm at North's Funeral Home Chapel with Full Military Honors. Col.Jackson was born August 10, 1946 in North Island, CA to Eloise Ernestine Butcher and James Henry Jackson. Col.Jackson received his primary education from North Island public schools. After High school George attended Lamar University and graduated in 1969. He then went to work for Texaco Petrochemical in Port Arthur TX. From 1970-1994, he served in a multitude of leadership and management positions in the Air Force. George Retired November 1994 as a Colonel, command pilot, B-1B instructor pilot with almost 4,000 flying hours. he spent sixteen years flying various Air Force Aircraft all over the world, four years at the Pentagon managing programs and budgets, and five years in various academic institutions. George was the president of his high school class, he made the deans list as a Chemical Engineer. He was also selected by Texaco international as a Petrochemical Engineer and selected by the Air Force as a First Assignment Instructor Pilot. Col. George loved to play Golf, he was also a Black Belt in Taekwondo. George was a family man who worked hard to provide for his family who he loved dearly. Col. Jackson often said " the two most important things in life is Family and your Health". Col. George R. Jackson was preceded in death by Wife Col. Ann Gerow Jackson USAF, Retired, father James H. Jackson, and mother Eloise E. Jackson. Left to cherish his memories are: daughter, Jennifer Burt (Jonathan Greer) of Abilene, TX George R. Jackson Jr. (Amber Bramson) of Fort Worth, TX. grandchildren Journey Ann Jackson of Fort Worth, TX, Piper Ann Burt of Abilene, and a host of extended family and many friends.
