Connie (C.W.) Green of Abilene Texas passed away on Sunday October 14 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Services will be on Thursday October 18 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at North's Funeral Home officiated by Keith Clifton. Burial will be at Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday October 17 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street.
C.W. was born on June 11 1928 in Bradshaw to George and Nan Green. He grew up in Hamby and graduated from Abilene High School in 1946. He attended and graduated from Hardin Simmons University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He married Ladelle Wilson on December 17 1954. He worked for Galloway Enterprises for thirty-five years. He also worked for Salta Pipe and Pride Refinery. He loved being outside mowing the yard and sitting under the carport in his spare time. He absolutely adored all of his children grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all brought him so much happiness joy and laughter. He was a funny compassionate and very wise man who loved life loved God and always gave advice and help to those in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents four brothers: Sherman Bryan Whitten and Jake (J.W.) and his loving and devoted wife of fifty-four years Ladelle.
He is survived by his three children: Connie Gates and husband Jon of Shallowater Gary Green of Abilene Carolyn Lesley-Cavazos and husband Joe of Abilene; Five grandchildren: Gary Jon Gates and Amy Renee Gates of Shallowater Jenna Beth Lesley of Abilene David Ryan Lesley of Austin and Katelyn Kay Wilson of Marble Falls; Two great-grandsons: Nathaniel Ryan Mendoza of Abilene and Isaiah Aiden Lesley of Austin. He has a sister Frances Pappas of Trenton Michigan several nieces and nephews and his sweet Maltese Lacy.
