Cynthia Spratt Martinez, 78, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at North's Memorial Chapel with Steve Queen officiating. Burial will follow at Caps Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at North's Memorial Chapel. Cynthia was born December 24, 1936 in Colchester, England. She married Arnulfo "Marty Martinez in 1955 in Ramsgate, England who preceded her in death in 2006. She worked as a homemaker. After their first daughter, Debbie, was born Marty's military career brought them to their first duty station in Florida. Cynthia was blessed with two more daughters; Joanne and Rachel. From Florida, Cynthia and Marty were reassigned to Japan for 3 years and then to Dyess AFB, TX where they raised their children and retired. Cynthia was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister. In the summer of 1997, Cynthia traveled to England and was reunited with her brother and sister after more than 40 years of separation. Cynthia traveled to England several more times and her family traveled from England to Texas for a visit. She continued to develop a beautiful relationship with all of her extended family in England. Cynthia's generosity and love saw no boundaries whether it be people or animals. She donated to a number of local charities and was always available to assist a friend or stranger. Cynthia was a member of Ridgemont Baptist Church and was very proud of her recent baptism on 04/06/14. She loved her church family dearly and appreciated their friendship and enjoyed their fellowship. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Martinez and Marvin Randolph of Westminster, CO., Joanne and Pete Krimmel of Dudley, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Martinez of Westminster, CO., Douglas Mitchell of Clyde, TX.; great-granddaughters, Kallissa Mitchell of Clyde, TX., Mackenzie Mitchell of San Angelo, TX., and great-grandson, Dawson Mitchell of Clyde, TX., sister and brother in law, Jill and Norman Cox of Birmingham, England, brother and sister in law, David and Pat Cox of Colchester, England and numerous other nieces and nephews in England. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnulfo "Marty" Martinez; daughter, Rachel A. Martinez, and granddaughter, Kristin Mitchell of Abilene, TX. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff at Wisteria Place for their love and care, and to her caregiver at Home Instead, Cindy for her care and friendship.
