Dale Preston Cannon (née Peed), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Abilene, Texas. Born on September 21, 1949, in Alexandria, Virginia, Dale lived a life filled with love, kindness, and an infectious sense of humor that left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Dale was the cherished daughter of Robert Peed and Shirley Dubois and stepdaughter to Rene Dubois. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her uncles Carl and Bobby and her aunt Barbara. Her family roots were a source of strength and pride for her throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted daughter Kate-Lynne Sorrell and her treasured grandchildren Aiden Preston Sorrell, Lucas Evan Sorrell, and Eleanor Mae Nicole Sorrell. Dale's love for her family was boundless; she found immense joy in being a mother and grandmother and took great pride in the lives of her daughter and grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Kimberly Ann Little and Kimberly's family-Brian, Sam, and Lucy. Dale's sister held a special place in her heart, and their bond was one of mutual love and support. Dale will be remembered as a woman whose warmth radiated to everyone she encountered. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she had an extraordinary ability to bring laughter into any room with her wonderful sense of humor. Those who knew Dale often spoke of how deeply she cared for others and how profoundly she touched their lives. Her legacy is reflected in the countless people whose lives were enriched by her presence. While details about services are yet to be planned, Dale's memory will undoubtedly be honored by those who loved her most.
