Dale King Toops passed gently into the next life on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the age of Eighty-Six.
A Memorial Celebration of life will be on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street.
Dale was born to Robert E. and Leona K. Toops on May 21, 1928 in Revere, Missouri. He served in the Navy and Air Force. He retired from the military in 1971 as a Sergeant. He attended the University of Nebraska and graduated in 1954 with a BS degree in agriculture. After his retirement he worked for the City of Abilene, in the water Department. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and also volunteered for the AARP as a tax aid. He loved to square dance with the "Wagon Wheel Squares."
He was a member of the Baha'I Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leona, Mother and Father in law, Aurelia and Leopoldo Marquez. Brother Robert Noland Toops, Brother in laws Darrell Gallup and Steve Peterson.
On May 8, 1961 he married Montserrat Marquez from Barcelona, Spain.
Survivors include his wife of fifty three years. Four children, Isabella Flores of SugarLand, Leopoldp and wife RaiLynn of San Angelo, Jordi and wife Cindy of Prosper and Francina and husband Michael Martinez of Abilene. Two Granddaughters, Megan and Catherine and five grandsons, Anthony, Alexander,Kasey, Randall and Conner. Three sisters, Alice Gallup of Kahoka, Mo., Evelyn Losey and husband Marvin from Mesa,Arizona,Lila Peterson of Las Vegas , Nevada . Two sister-in laws, Mary Toops of Milton, Ia. And Loli Marquez of Cardedeu, Catalunya.
The family would like to thank Doctor Parker, Doctor Aks and Doctor McClintock as well as Integra Care Hospice and the great care and moral support that Therah, Natham and Amber gave us when it was needed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels or West Texas Rehabilitation.
