Darlene Ward 90 of Hendersonville, North Carolina, formerly of Abilene, passed away May 26, 2017. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in the Wylie Baptist Church. Burial to follow in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. ~ 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St. Ms. Ward was born August 24, 1926 in Tuscola, Texas to Ernest and Ola Vada (Pruitt) Simmons. She married William Edward "Dub" Ward in 1945 in Caps, Texas. She was a homemaker and a Preacher's wife. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her grandchildren; Billy Ward and wife Christina and Linda Ward of North Carolina. Two great-grandchildren; Billy Ernest Ward, III and Christopher Robin Ward.
