David Roger Demmitt, age 76, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on December 26, 2025. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at North's Funeral Home. David was born on September 24, 1949, to Thomas Earl Demmitt and Alma Maurine Painter. He had been a part of the Abilene community since 1969. He enjoyed a life rooted in family, hard work, and the outdoors. He especially loved fishing, hunting, and gardening, passions that brought him both peace and joy. Some of his favorite memories were made during family holidays and vacations, times he deeply treasured. On September 7, 1968, David married the love of his life, Judi, in Snyder, Texas. Their marriage was the foundation of a strong and loving family, which David considered his greatest accomplishment. David worked in the auto parts industry and at Reeders for a total of 14 years, where he was known for his dedication and reliability. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Earl Demmitt and Alma Maurine Painter; his sisters, Jo Ellen and Linda; and his brother, Tom. David is survived by his wife, Judi Demmitt of Abilene; his son, Brian Demmitt; his daughter, Jennifer Brannon; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
