David Edward Dinwiddie 60 passed away Sunday October 5 in a local hospital. Services will be held in Southern Hills Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m. Thursday with Phil Ware and Danny Minton officiating. Burial to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in North's Memorial Chapel 242 Orange St. Mr. Dinwiddie was born March 2 1948 to Frank William Dinwiddie and Shirley Mae (Wagner) in Washington D.C. After attending schools in Tennessee and Virginia he found his way to Abilene in 1971. He attended Abilene Christian College for two years studying architecture. He then became a self-employed painting contractor and carpenter; an occupation that he continued until illness forced his retirement. David struggled much of his life with alcoholism. For about the last ten years he continually fought the demons and was able with God's help to defeat them one by one. He was a faithful servant of God attending Southern Hills Church of Christ for many years. One of the highlights of his life was being able to go on a Mission trip to Mexico this past summer. David is survived by: two brothers Steve and Tom; two sisters Susan and Karen; three children and one grandchild. He leaves behind many faithful friends. The lives David touched are better for having known him. Rest faithful brother you are home with the Father. "Trust in the Lord will all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.
