David D. Wilson 75 of Abilene passed away May 26 2013. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at First Central Presbyterian Church David was born in Grand Rapids Michigan in 1937 to Roland and Margaret Wilson. He married Gayle Nelson Howe in 1957 in Ft. Worth Texas. In 1960 he joined the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. During his service he was awarded these medals: the Legion of Merit Distinguished Flying Cross with one Bronze OLC Meritorious Service Medal with four Bronze OLC Air Medal with two Silver and three Bronze OLC Air Force Commendation Medal and a Purple Heart to name just a few. He retired from the military in 1987 as a C-130 pilot and went on to be the site manager for Lockheed-Martin Corporation training C-130 crews at Dyess Air Force Base. David served as a deacon elder and trustee of First Central Presbyterian Church and as a member of the Committee on Ministry for Palo Duro Presbytery. David was a graduate of Texas Christian University with post-graduate studies at the University of Southern California with a Masters Degree in Education from Ball State. David was preceded in death by his brother Jon Michael Wilson of Austin Texas and by both of his parents. David is survived by his wife of 56 years Gayle Nelson Howe Wilson; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Gina of Albuquerque New Mexico; daughter Susan of Abilene Texas; son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Kristin of Abilene Texas; grandchildren Isaiah Margaret Brittany Colton and Jackson Wilson all of Abilene Texas; two great-grandsons Alexander David and Austin Don and their father Joseph Schneider; sister-in-law Dr. Kaye Howe of Boulder Colorado; brother-in-law Tony Howe of Austin Texas; nephew Greg and Amy Wilson; and nieces Jill and Graeme Hair and Pam and Scott Snowberger and their children. The family would like to thank friends doctors nurses and caregivers here in Abilene and Plano who gave us constant support during these difficult months.
