Deborah Lynne Button, 73, of Abilene, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Deborah was born on April 6, 1953, in Wichita Falls to Mary Sue Stacks and Jerry Wayne Burney. She later moved to Abilene, where she built a life centered on family, compassion, and service to others. Deborah graduated from Cooper High School and later earned her degree from Angelo State University. On July 20, 1974, she married the love of her life, Gary, and together they shared many years of devotion and family memories. Together they raised three children, Emily, Sean, and Josh, and later welcomed seven grandchildren into their family. Deborah dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a registered nurse. She worked at Hendrick Medical Center in the critical care unit before continuing her nursing career at Harris Methodist Hospital, where her compassion and steady presence touched countless lives. Deborah found joy in life's simple and beautiful moments. She loved gardening and flowers, was a passionate reader, and enjoyed painting and other creative pursuits. She especially loved cooking for her family, and her King Ranch Chicken was a favorite at family gatherings. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes, bringing her both joy and adventure. Though quiet in nature, Deborah loved fiercely. She was deeply family-oriented, selfless, and devoted to those she loved most. Her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Grams," held a special place in her heart. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering love, creativity, and the care she gave so freely to others. She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Burney and brother Butch Burney. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Gary Button, children, Emily Travis, Sean Button and Josh Button, grandchildren, Sam Button, Emma Button, Kai Button, Ely Button, Jaden Travis, Seth Travis, and Ethan Travis, mother, Mary Sue McDonald and brother, Brett Burney. Deborah's memory will be cherished always by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
