Obituary

Denise Ann Emery, age 71, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2025. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend whose life was filled with faith, compassion, and a deep passion for children's education. Denise was born in Sterling City, Texas, and spent much of her childhood in Wichita Falls, Texas. She graduated from Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas, after spending her last two years of high school there. Denise continued her education at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, where she pursued her love for learning. After moving to Amarillo, Texas, Denise worked in retail for many years before relocating to Abilene, where she worked for J.C. Penney, Wiltel, Abilene Education Supply, and Mardel's Bookstore. Denise was dedicated to her work and had a heart for serving others, particularly in the field of education. She had a special place in her heart for early childhood education which leadc her to be a key figure in toddler education with her church for over 20 years. A passionate and active member of her church, Denise loved crafting with children and was known for her kindness and patience in nurturing young minds. She was a dedicated member of the Minda Street Church of Christ and more recently, a member of the Key City Church of Christ. Denise had a wide range of hobbies, including gardening and traveling. She found joy in the beauty of nature and the thrill of exploring new places. Denise is survived by her brother, Terry Emery and wife Melody of Missouri City, Texas City, Texas; nieces Kayla McGuire and husband Tynan of Kyle, Texas; Erin Oliphant and husband Eric of Weatherford, Texas; Brandis Payne of New Braunfels, Texas; Megan Butts of Plano, Texas; and nephews James Emery of McAllen, Texas; Josh Motz of Kyle, Texas; Jacob Emery of Missouri City, Texas; and Luke Emery of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Funeral services are pending with North's Funeral Home Denise's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
