Donald Nelson Crawford, 86, of Abilene, passed away August 5, 2015. Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, at Slater's Chapel Cemetery near Nolan, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends, Friday from 5 – 7:00 p.m. in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street. Mr. Crawford was born August 9, 1928 in Abilene to Gordon and Olive (Staggs) Crawford. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he worked as a ranch manager of McDaniel Ranch for Robert C. Rankin for many years, and then managed the Arthel Henson Ranch. He was later employed for many years at West Texas Lawn Sprinkler Company, and Crawford's Lawn Sprinkler Company in Abilene. Donald will always be remembered as a good father, "paw paw", and cowboy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Fred and Olive Valentine Crawford, two brothers; G.F. Crawford and Alvin Crawford.
