Donn Stewart Noland 78 of Abilene passed away on Thursday July 5 2012. Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church on Monday July 9 2012 at 10 a.m. followed by burial services in Eula Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday July 8 2012 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street .
Donn was born in Tulsa Oklahoma on July 11 1933. He was an active volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America for 18 years. He was a proud Vigil member of Scouting's Order of the Arrow community where he influenced scouters of all ages. As a graduate of the University of Texas he served as District Council Representative of the Abilene Texas Exes Chapter and loved Texas Longhorn football games in Austin.
He served as an Elder of First Christian Church and was honored as Elder Emeritus in the fall of 2011. He loved country and gospel music and was talented in singing and playing the guitar. His love of music afforded him the opportunity to serve as a worship leader in the church where he was able to reach out to others on their journey of life. He married his spouse of 39 years Iva Nell Cole on April 7 1973. He lived a life dedicated to his faith in God family and service to his community.
Donn was preceded in death by his parents C. Stewart and Mary Noland and one son Matthew Dean Noland of Abilene.
Donn is survived by his spouse Iva Nell Noland son Patrick John Noland of Abilene son Marc Noland and daughter Sharon Williams and husband Ward Williams both of Midland along with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
