Doris Ann Stewart Manly, 81, died peacefully on September 26, 2015, with her family around her. Doris was born October 21, 1933 to Clarence P. and Dorothy Stewart (Shepard) in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas where she excelled academically and musically, having played violin in the All State Orchestra. She attended North Texas University in Denton before marrying on June 14, 1952 the love of her life, Maxey Kline (M.K.) Manly, whom she loved unconditionally and cared for selflessly until his death February 4, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law and a grandson. Doris worked hard inside and outside the home. She was a farm wife and would do anything Maxey asked her to do. For 20 years, she held several administrative assistant positions at Dyess AFB Hospital until her retirement in 1995. Doris was meticulous, detailed oriented and known for her exacting precision and accountability. A longtime member of the Hamby Baptist Church, she played piano and organ there for many years. Doris enjoyed crossword puzzles, crochet, music, theater and watching her favorite TV programs. More than any of these things, she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and very recently, a great grandmother. Her family was everything to her. Survivors include her daughter, Patti and her husband, Rob Bertoia of Arlington, Texas, son, Dan of Denver, Colorado, and son, Jim and his wife, Shirlee of Hawley, Texas; her brother Bob and his wife, Darlene of Cameron, Texas; four grandchildren, Mary and her husband Pete McElvain, Rachael and her husband Russell Bedard, Renee Manly and Seth Manly and his wife Kayla; one great grandchild with another on the way; and numerous niece and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015, 10:00 am at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street with visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, September 29, 2015. In lieu of flowers, Doris' wish was that donations be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, Meals on Wheels Plus, Hamby Baptist Church or donor's favorite charity.
