Doris Elizabeth Rose 90 of Abilene passed away Wednesday January 20 2010 at a local nursing home. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Elmwood Memorial Park with Reverend Mike Woodard officiating under the direction of North's Funeral Home 242 Orange Street. Mrs. Rose was born December 30 1919 in Eula Callahan County to Clarence and Floyd Tarrant. She moved from Eula in 1936 to Abilene. She attended grade school in Eula and graduated from Abilene High School in 1940. She worked for Woolsworth on Pine Street Jennings Drug Store on Oak Street and Abilene Pastry Shop on North 5th. She married Lee Roy Smith in 1947 in Abilene. He preceded her in death in 1954. She later married Marion D. Rose in 1958 in Abilene. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers Galton Tarrant and Van Tarrant; and sister Jenelle Shaner. She is survived by her daughter Doris Ann Vann of Abilene; two sons Dwight Rose of Florida and Danny Joe Rose of England; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
