Dorothy Grotte Winn, 83, of Abilene, Texas passed away Monday, June 8, 2015. Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Wise Funeral Home, 219 W Sam Rayburn Drive, Bonham, Texas with Steven Chism officiating. Burial will be at Fannin Memorial Gardens, 2038 TX -121, Bonham, Texas. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, Texas. Dorothy Nadine Grotte was born on November 3, 1931 in Bulcher, Texas to Henry Grotte, and Monti Hatfield. She was there until the age of seven when her dad passed, then moved to Saint Jo, Texas. Dorothy graduated from Saint Jo High School, Saint Jo, Texas. She worked at Pedigo's Pharmacy in the town square both during and after high school. Dorothy went on to college at Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. She ran the Soda Fountain and also helped in the pharmacy when needed. She had a love for people and enjoyed visiting with the local and people from the surrounding area. This was the perfect job for her and everyone loved her. Dorothy Married L. Donald Winn of Saint Jo, Texas on August 21, 1954. His job took them all over the US, as they both loved the traveling and getting to see new things. In 1985 they both moved to Midland, TX. Dorothy had a love for children and was mom and grandma to many besides her own. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Grotte-father, Monti Hatfield Grotte-mother, husband, Leslie Donald Winn, son, Darrell Bradley "Brad" Winn, and sister, Sybil Grotte Cable. Survived by: Donna Winn - daughter, Delia Walker - daughter, Allan Walker - son-in-law, Kathie Winn - daughter-in-law, Vincent Vehar - grandson and wife Laurie, April Baesa - granddaughter, Chyloh Winn - granddaughter, Teaya Winn - granddaughter, Skyler Glasscock - great granddaughter, Olivia Slinkard - great granddaughter, Callie Vehar - great granddaughter, Hannah Vehar - great granddaughter. The family asks that in lieu of flowers for donations to go to The American Cancer Society. Visitors are welcome to come by and visit during regular hours (9-5 p.m.) on Wednesday and on Thursday from 9-7 p.m. at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange Street, Abilene, Texas.
