Gene Wisdon, 77, of Abilene went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2014. He was born and raised in Missouri on 9/26/1936, to Herbert and Bernice Wisdon.
In 1956, he entered the U.S.A.F. which brought him to Abilene in 1971, and he proudly called Abilene his home for 42 years. During his military career, he proudly served our country until his retirement in 1977.
A devoted family man, he set a wonderful example to all with his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, the American Legion and Holy Family Catholic Church where he was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, Eucharistic Minister and Usher.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son John A. Wisdon. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years Bonnie, sons James and Terrance (Julia), daughter Catherine (Kory), grandchildren: Amanda (Jeff), Victoria, Kalvin, John-Michael, Liam, great granddaughter Ellison and brothers Donald Hoaglin and Clark E. Pointer.
Visitation will be Friday, 3/21/2014, from 5-7 at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St., Abilene. Funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, 3/22/2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, 3/24/2014, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Gene's name to: Hendricks's Cancer and Hospice Centers, 1682 Hickory St., Abilene and Presbyterian Medical Care Mission, 302 Medical Dr., Abilene.
