Edrien "Edie" Colleen Newton, 89, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Services will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in North's Memorial Chapel with Dr. Herb Wood officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street. Edie Newton was born May 22, 1926 in Coleman, Texas to Hugh and Nell Clary. She worked for Thornton's Department Store for over thirty years, and she later worked as a PBX Operator at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Edie was a longtime member of University Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. She is survived by one son, Jerry Newton and wife Pat of Arlington, Texas, two daughters: Linda Robison of Allen, Texas, Kay Heyman and husband Elo of Menard, Texas, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
