Eileen was born on September 23, 1922 in Fries, Virginia to Mary Anice and Otey Rhudy. Eileen married J.R. Naylor August 23, l941 in Virginia and then moved to Texas where he pastored several small churches in Thrift, Burkburnet, Archer City, and Lockney where he died in l953. Together they had two children Rhudy and Janice.
Eileen married Bill Stewart in l956 in Lubbock where he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. With Bill's son, Jimmy, the combined family then moved to Abilene in l957 to start a new life. They joined First Baptist Church where she became very involved in the choir and activities in the church.
Widowed again in l981 with Bill's passing, Eileen delighted in creating beauty in her yard and home. It was amazing to see her talent in transforming something of little value into a beautiful masterpiece that she would love and proudly display in her home.
She was devout in her faith, and inspired others by her example of grace and friendship. Eileen was not only a loving wife and mother, but an outstanding homemaker, cook, gardener, artisan, and seamstress. Once she committed there was virtually nothing beyond her capability.
She authored a small devotional book, "Smiling with God", based on her personal experiences that were testimonials to her faith. She was a friend to all and kind to all creatures. She was beautiful in every way and an extraordinary lady. She cherished and loved her many friends at First Baptist, especially the ladies in the "Priscilla Class" whom she taught. Their friendship was always so very precious to her over the years.
Eileen was preceded in death by husbands, J.R. Naylor and Bill Stewart, her parents, three sisters, one brother, and granddaughter, Christi Todd.
She is survived by sons, Rhudy Naylor and wife, Laura, Jimmy Stewart and wife, Cheryl, and daughter Janice Naylor Todd and husband, Doug, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
The family of Eileen would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. David's Hospital, Reliant Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Christopher Hospice House in Austin, Texas for their compassion and tender care in her final days.
