Obituary

Enrique Velazquez, Jr. came into this life September 7, 1954, in Mexico City, the son of Enrique Velazquez, Sr. and Elda Velazquez, both of whom preceded him in death. He was 67. The family emigrated to Chicago where Enrique, known as "Quique" to family (and later as "Rick" to his friends) grew up and attended school. In his late teens he joined the Navy where he learned about machinery and mechanics. He earned a high-level security clearance enabling him to work in sensitive areas and engines of a ship. He was stationed in San Francisco and San Diego and later Guam aboard the USS Diego Garcia, where he traveled to Hawaii, Europe and parts of Asia. When he left the Navy, Rick worked as a mechanic, later driving and maintaining trucks for various enterprises. Through it all he was generous with funds and his mechanical skills sharing whatever was needed by family or friends. He leaves to cherish his memory: Sister Naomi Greene (Kevin); brother Fernando; son Ricky Velazquez III (Jessica) and grand-daughters Olivia and Evelyn; daughter Tashia McIntyre (John)and grandchildren Sabrielle and Blaine; uncle Ernesto Velazquez; stepson Ricardo Morales; his best friend George Stokes; nieces and numerous cousins in the U.S. and Mexico.
