Flora Irene Yawn, 85, of Clyde, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015. Services will be held Thursday January 15, 2015 - 10:30 a.m. at Clyde Church of Christ, 407 Austin Street, Clyde, Texas. J.F. Lilly will be officiating, and burial to follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday evening at North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange Street.
Flora was born August 24, 1929 in Baird, Texas to H.P. Lilly, and Jewel Bryant. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She loved God and embraced opportunities to help others. Flora has gone home to join her husband of 65 years, Walter Yawn. She was happiest when surrounded by family and loved ones. She particularly enjoyed singing hymns whether at church services or family gatherings. She was always giving to the less fortunate, volunteering with the Boy Scouts, and was most comfortable on her horse and enjoying the great outdoors. Flora leaves many wonderful memories with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, H.P. Lilly and Jewel Bryant Lilly; her spouse, Walter Ellis Yawn, her brothers, Cleburne Lilly, Loy H. Lilly, sisters, Yvonne Lilly Foster, Dorothy Lilly Bullard, Donna Lilly Ramos, and Brenda Lilly Lathrop.
She is survived by her children, Arnold Ellis Yawn, Theresa Yawn Jaworski and husband Paul, James Walter Yawn and wife Bridget, Michael Paul Yawn, Gretta Yawn Golden and husband Glenn; two sisters, Olivia Lilly Wood, and Francis Lilly Copher; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great –grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
